PD Designs is proud to sponsor a flying contest, the first of its kind in InWorldz.

The Goal: Fly a seaplane as far and as long as you can.

The Prizes: FREE SeaWing seaplanes to the winners in three categories: number of sim crossings, distance flown and the duration of the flight.

The Details: From now through Friday, May 18, 2012 come the PD Designs - Vehicle Research Center in Candia (inworldz://Candia/237/56/22) where you will find a specially equipped SeaWing seaplane at the end of the dock. A banner over it reads ‘CONTEST VEHICLE’. You may fly the contest plane as often as you like. Other demos are available there too (sailboat, jetski and helicopter) but they are not part of this contest.

The contest vehicle has a web logger script in it that will automatically send the flight data to the Captain’s Log web page at the end of a successful flight. A successful flight is one where you stand at the end and the engine shuts down. Flights ending in crashes do not count. The Captain’s Log web page will store and display the best flight (most crossings) of each pilot that flies a contest vehicle. The contest ends at midnight Friday, May 18, 2012. Any flights recorded after that will not be eligible. To see who has gone the farthest visit:

The Captain's Log Web Page

The Winners: Winners will be chosen in three categories in the following order: Sim Crossings, Distance and Duration. Only one winner in each category. Winners can only win one category. In the unlikely case of a tie, the win will go to the person whose flight was recorded first. The prizes will be sent to the winners on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Winners do not have to be present or online to receive the prizes. You do have to enter the contest to be eligible to win. PD Designs staff and management are not eligible to receive prizes.

Best of luck to you all as you participate in this historic event sponsored by PD Designs.

With a little more than a day left in the competition, DJTommy Seetan currently has a commanding lead with an amazing flight lasting over an hour, traveling more than 35,000 meters with 151 successful sim crossings!

In second and third places now are Lys Sandalwood and Bad Bob respectfully.

As it stands now, these three will each receive a FREE SeaWing seaplane when the contest ends at midnight on Friday night. To see how far you have to go to catch second or third place and to be eligible to win a prize visit:

With less than 8 hours remaining in the competition, the leaders have managed to keep their positions from the last update. There is still plenty of time though for an upset as we head into the final hours. To see how far you have to go to catch the current leaders and be eligible to win a FREE SeaWing seaplane visit:

And the winners are:

DJTommy Seetan - Sim Crossings
Lys Sandalwood - Distance
Tank Girl - Duration

DJTommy Seetan would have won all three categories but each contestant can only win one category, beginning with sim crossings.

The prizes have been delivered. Congratulations to the winners. Thanks to all who participated. A reminder to those whose flights ended in crashes and didn't get on the Captain's Log: you can use the contest vehicles as many times as you like :)

The final results will remain on the Captain's Log web page until the start of the next contest. To see the final results visit:

PD Designs is pleased to announce a jetski contest, another first of its kind in InWorldz.

The Goal: Drive a jetski as far and as long as you can.

The Prizes: FREE Sea Dog Jetski to the winner, FREE Sea Dog Surfboards to 2nd and 3rd place winners.

The Details: From now through Monday, June 4, 2012 come the PD Designs - Vehicle Research Center in Candia (inworldz://Candia/237/56/22) where you will find a specially equipped Sea Dog Jetski at the end of the dock. A banner over it reads ‘CONTEST VEHICLE’. You may drive the contest Jetski as often as you like. Other demos are available there too (sailboat, seaplane and helicopter) but they are not part of this contest.

The contest vehicle has a web logger script in it that will automatically send the trip data to the Captain’s Log web page at the end of a successful voyage. A successful voyage is one where you stand at the end and the engine shuts down. Voyages ending in crashes do not count. The Captain’s Log web page will store and display the best voyages (most crossings) of each captain that drives a contest vehicle. The contest ends at midnight Monday, June 4, 2012. Any voyages recorded after that will not be eligible. To see who has gone the farthest visit:

The Captain's Log Web Page

The Winners: Winners will be selected based on number of sim crossings. Whoever has the most, wins. In the case of a tie, the next category will act as a tie breaker. The order of categories is: sim crossings, distance, duration then date & time.

BONUS RANDOM DRAWING CONTEST
The jetski steering can be adjusted. There are 10 different settings. After using the jetski, touch the voting machine button of your favorite setting to enter the random prize drawing. Prizes will be announced latter this week. Winners will be chosen at random by the machine after the jetski contest has ended.

Best of luck to you all as you participate in yet another historic event sponsored by PD Designs.

We are about midway through the weeklong Jetski contest and a new leader has emerged. Bad Bod pulled way ahead of the pack today, turning in an impressive run with 160 sim crossings! That is more crossing than the previous contest winner had.

Will Bad Bob be able to hold onto the lead and win the Jetski when the contest ends on midnight Monday? With a little more than four days to go, it's anyone's call but he is the odds-on favorite at this point.

How far do you have to go to catch up to second or third places? Check the Captain's Log and see then head to the dock, jump in a Jetski and give it a try.

Be sure to play with the adjustable steering option on the Jetski then resister your vote for your favorite setting on the voting machine. That will enter you in the bonus random drawing contest.

Since the last update, an astonishing new distance and duration record has been set by Anna Loom. She sailed into the record books with an amazing voyage lasting over 6 1/2 hours that covered more than 225,000 meters! This phenomenal record will undoubtedly stand for quite some time.

We are still checking the recording equipment and awaiting confirmation but by all indications, this was not an equipment related anomaly but an actual voyage by a very determined contestant.

With a little more than a day left in the competition, the top spots seem secure but are they?
Visit The Captain's Log Web Page and see. Prizes will be awarded to the top three on Tuesday.

Ohhhhh Phoneix, I LOVE the idea that I stayed around for 6 1/2 hours but no - really no! I admit to being a long time but not THAT long more like a couple of hours. I started trying to count crossings but gave up - I had some truly interesting experiences and I have full intention of seeing if I can beat "my" record but please your stats mut be wrong :)
(Honesty is the best policy!)

It appears that there was a technical problem that caused abnormally high distance and duration values to be stored for Anna’s run. Thank you Anna for being so forthright with what actually happened.

The root cause of the problem is still being investigated. The system never failed during exhaustive testing. Hypothetical failure scenarios include: packet loss, solar flares, or a temporary disruption of the space-time continuum resulting in rider-less jetski being suspended in a parallel universe until the quantum matrix stabilized. Or maybe it was just a bad crossing, idunno.

One thing is for certain though: Bad Bob crossed more sims than anyone else and by so doing won first place in this contest. Congratulations Bad Bob! Well done!

Since the glitch cast some uncertainty as to who placed where after Bad Bob, I’ve decided not to even try to decide and give everyone else that entered the contest a surfboard.

The bonus random drawing prize was going to be a surfboard but since everyone is already getting a surfboard, that drawing now is rather superfluous. Your votes however will be used to set default steering sensitivity settings on the soon to be released surfboard.

Congratulations to you all and thanks for your participation! Your prizes will be delivered later today when the surfboard is ready.

The final results will be displayed on the The Captain's Log Web Page until the next contest. Contests will be on hold for a while though as we continue to investigate the mysterious anomaly.

Congratulations to Bad Bob! I really did try to beat you but did not have enough time :)

A great idea Phoneix and even greater fun! Thanks for providing the demo jet-ski for everyone to get up and go! The surfboard is wonderful now I need to build some bigger waves :)

Thanks again for a Fun Time!
