Hello Citizens

I was asked to reprint this article on attachment properties here.

Good Luck

I have been testing attachment properties for..... a long time :), here are my conclusions

First, copies work if used in a certain way. This is something the creator of the item must do before passing out copies to other avatars. My method is as follows:

Fit the original object to the appropriate attachment point.

Take off the original object using inventory (not detach from the pie menu)

Using inventory, make a copy of the original.

Store the original in inventory and do not delete it. I have an originals folder I keep these in.

Wear the copy.

If the properties change on the copy, re-wear the original and the properties return to the copy. Re-wear the copy.

I have hundreds (ok 1000's lol) of attached items and this works perfectly for all my attachments.

Second, a few items to consider;

I make my own attachments and fit them to one avatar shape.

Importing with Second Inventory; all imports have the same avatar name on them.

Fitting attachments: This is an old SL method but I have used it for years. Fit the item and remove it using inventory (not detach from the pie menu) Repeat this method 3 times. Store the item in a box and leave it in your region, parcel etc. This saves the original attachment properties forever (unless you delete the box)

After setting the attachment properties in this manner you can now distribute your items to other avatars with no attachment issues at all. I have handed out a lot of hair that works fine.

If you need a demonstration, you can contact me in world :)
