Interesting! Am curious, was it a temp rez object, or when one is killed with llDie? Or both?

I believe it was related to the objects being physical, and the timing of llDie calls and physical collisions. The crash was in our code that handles physical collisions and was a simple null dereference, but at a point where we have already checked to see if the object was marked deleted, in single-threaded code. Basically a "this should never happen" case.

It may be a PhysX bug, or a problem with the underlying physics implementation doing something async from a separate thread that we aren't aware of, but for whatever reason, if it does happen, it is effectively the same case as if the object had been marked deleted. And the action there is to discard the collision with an unknown object; the object is gone anyway. That's the fix in that case, as it is probably a late collision event referencing something that doesn't exist anymore.

It may not have been triggered by the llDie; the object was also TEMP_ON_REZ, but the reason the object wasn't present anymore probably isn't a key factor as much as the timing of it being removed from the region (for any reason).

It was worse than just region-wide (assuming a reference to IDI). The event board has enjoyed a sort of viral popularity (It's tied to the web-published events page and has always been free to take a copy of it). There are literally hundreds+ of event boards grid-wide... and all of them going off in local chat periodically and simultaneously...

... Thank you for getting this back to normal again!

Sadly, not ... on log in and tp to IDI the shout is still occurring

AMV InWorldz Events Board v1.2: http://inworldz.com/API/events/feed.php ... tionsPlain loaded.
AMV InWorldz Events Board v1.2: http://inworldz.com/API/events/feed.php ... tionsPlain loaded.

... but this could just mean the board needs a script reset or to be pulled up and re-rezzed ... (?)

ETA: Nevermind - it appears that IDI (from my help/about window) is still on R-5855 (has not been updated at this time): http://places.inworldz.com/InWorldz%20D ... 126/186/22
(global coordinates 256,126.0, 256,186.0, 22.0)

Yes, sorry folks, the update is delayed another 24 hours, until this evening.

Should all be updated by tomorrow morning. Also, if it's a problem at IDI or any other specific region, I can update those immediately if they aren't busy.

This incremental 0.9.20 update to have the two R5868 fixes will begin in a few minutes, starting with the IDI welcome region, the straits and oceans, and some sponsored (e.g. Events regions) then continuing to all regions. It should be complete by about 8am IW time.

The rollout of this update completed a few hours ago. All regions should now be running 0.9.20 R5868.

Glad to see this going out and the event boards returning to normal. It also affected a few other of my products.

I can come out of hiding now. LOL! Alot of folks use the board and were vocal about the issue. I was sorry I couldn't do anything specific to fix it.
