We have some fairly urgent fixes to roll out that won't wait for the next (Thoosa and LSL vehicles) enhancements. A targeted bugfix update has been prepared and this will be undergoing testing on the sandbox regions very soon (as soon as I finish posting this and finish some basic code sanity checks).

Here is a list of the fixes coming in the R3515 update (since the previous R3450 main grid version):

• Mesh: Switched compression methods to fix an issue with decompressing some of the streams we get presented with when uploading mesh. In addition to the fix, the newer decompressions is also likely faster now. This fixes Mantis #2137.

• When copying an item from a notecard to user Inventory, the server now sets the creation date to the date/time the inventory item is made, rather than preserving the original date/time. (Fixes problems with inventory sorting of newly-added items from notecards, and the Recent Items list.)

• Fixed the problem of being unable to wear certain inventory items, especially those with the wrong icon. The first attempt to wear the item will still fail, however the server will repair the item at that time, so that subsequent attempts to wear the item will succeed. The icon will also be corrected on the next relog / inventory cache clear. Fixes problems with some inventory items such as the "InWorldz Starter" items and any items derived from those or created with the same problem.

• Loading of OAR files(including region rollback) now has no-copy checks that will avoid removing no-copy objects and avoid restoring no-copy objects from the backups. This fixes Mantis #2044.

• Fixed a possible deadlock problem in the region persistence (backup) code that resulted in many region operations (including shutdown/restart) hanging.

• Fixed temp objects and auto-return to be checked about once per minute (rather than the previous once per 5 minutes or more) since auto-return can be as low as 1 minute and temp objects are supposed to clean up after about 1 minute.

• Fixed a problem when script runtime permissions were declined by a user that resulted in that script not receiving the run_time_permissions(0) event, and could even result in the whole script engine being disabled for the region.

This version is now running on the main grid InWorldz Sandbox 1 - 4 regions, if anyone has an inventory item they cannot wear, etc. You can go there to repair it.

Try to wear it.

Try to wear it.
Thanks Boo. Yes, wear it. It won't look like it worked, however it will be repaired then, if this was the problem. A second attempt to wear it should succeed. And the icon will be fixed on the next relog.

Shorter answer: To repair, wear the item (ignore the failure to wear), then wear it again.

We're going to deploy this update grid-wide starting overnight tonight. We haven't found any significant issues and while it may not completely resolve all the cases, there are some good fixes in this. So starting between 10-11pm IW time tonight, and running until about noon tomorrow, there will be rolling region restarts as we upgrade the regions to R3515. I'll post status updates here as this happens.

The R3515 rollout will be starting in the next few minutes. It will take 12-14 hours. During that time, please avoid reporting any region that has been down for less than 30 minutes. The automated upgrade process is fairly slow and can take 30 minutes before the upgraded region is available again.

The update rollout completed quite some time ago. (I need to add timestamps to the logs so that I will have a better idea how long these take!)

If anyone notices any region version change notices entering a new region, or otherwise notices any regions not running version "0.8.6 R3515", please let us know. Thanks.
