Examples:

  • Image
  • http://places.inworldz.com/map2.php?x=1000&y=1000&z=1

If you want a link to the map image for the sim you are in,
rez a cube,
put the following script in cube and touch.

default
{
   touch_start(integer total_number)
   {
      vector Corner_v = llGetRegionCorner();
      llOwnerSay(llDumpList2String([
         "http://places.inworldz.com/map2.php?x=", llFloor(Corner_v.x / 256.0), "&y=", llFloor(Corner_v.y / 256.0), "&z=1"
         ], ""));
   }
}

If want to use it as a texture inworld, you can use the link in parcel media or
you can download it to your system then upload it to IW as a texture.

Thats pretty good!
I wish the actual picture/texture was clearer however?

I have a sort of a sim map updater, but with the sim pictures looking so bad I haven't done anything with it yet.
Be nice it they were clearer so you can make out buildings etc. on the ground.

I'd like a tool that makes sculpt maps of my land so I can apply shadows that lay flat against all terrain.

Don't know if this works in IW- but give it a shot:

Ferd Frederix is an awesome creator who freely shares with SL and OS residents. Explore his site- you won't be sorry (he made the super cool Blue Whale on my sim - free to take copy- with his blessing)

Thanks Ama, I knew that was around somewhere but had long ago lost the way to the site. I'll try it and see if it works out.
